Artist Jennifer A Tepper,

Jennifer A Tepper

Jennifer has pursued fine art in various media throughout her life. From calligraphy and pen and ink classes with her architect-father at the Smithsonian Institute, to painting & ceramics during college, she always dreamed of a creative career. She matriculated from the Catholic University of American with a B.A. in English Literature, with minor concentrations in Fine Art and Philosphy.

She began her pursuit of a creative avocation in earnest subsequent to a career in commercial real estate in Washington, DC, spanning more than 15 years, which she left after the birth of her first child.

Jennifer opened Spirit Trail Fiberworks in January, 2003, and has been a dyer for over 15 years, dyeing luxury yarns and fibers for textile artists. She also creates one-of-a-kind, ready-to-wear hand-painted silk scarves, hand-dyed and hand-knit scarves and other hand-crafted accessories. Her yarns and spinning fibers are available at various festivals, retail stockists, and online, and her ready-to-wear accessories are available for purchase in the Blue Ridge Artisans gallery & shop, which she opened in September, 2016.

In addition to her hand-dyed yarns and silk scarves, Jennifer is an abstract acrylic painter. Her work focuses on color: the play and movement of color, the juxtaposition between colors, and each person's unique experience of and relationship with color. Her goal is to create work with visual impact which elicits an individual and personal response from the viewer through the choice and interplay of color.

Jennifer is a native of Washington, DC, and has lived in a handmade house in the woods of Rappahannock County since 2004.
